July 2018: first indications of in-vitro digestability of produced Single Cell Protein
The phase 2 Pilot Research is moving towards an end. The pilot studies have stopped and we have started evaluating the data from the tests. Meanwhile we had some material - that was produced during the pilot trial runs - analysed by an external laboratory. During the final campaign we produced the best dry single cell biomass with a protein content of 49 % and an in-vitro digestibility of 85 %. The amino acid profiles indicate that the samples have similar amino acid composition regardless of the stabilization treatment used. The samples contain high concentrations (~10% of total crude protein) of Aspartic acid, Glutamine and Alanine. The amino acid profile is also similar to samples obtained during laboratory experiments reported by Matassa et al. (2017).
